Need a great place to stay near the cacti?
If you’re looking for a unique, pet-friendly place to stay while you’re up on the Murray River, check out our son John’s spot: The Paddock at Ulupna.
“Adventure by day and magic by night!”
A picturesque retreat on 180 acres of beautiful Australian bushland and only 10 minutes from Cactus Country, The Paddock at Ulupna is the perfect spot for weddings, family events, business functions, and quiet getaways.
They have eight self-contained cabins with full kitchens and AC, 15 caravan camping spots, and a 234-square-meter, hand-built mud-brick event space. Located on Ulupna Island – nestled between the Ulupna Creek and the Murray River – they are a 5-minute drive to natural river beaches perfect for a refreshing swim, BBQing delicious local saltbush lamb, and enjoying the tranquil atmosphere.
At night, sit around the campfire to tell stories and watch kangaroos snack on the nearby grass. Look up for not only the most incredible stargazing but also to find koalas in the trees – Fluffy Butt and River are their most beloved regulars.
